Joe Johnson Eufaula Mayor Accepts Role as Chief Justice in 1987

 Joe Johnson was appointed to the Creek Nation supreme Court and served for 16 years. He was the youngest member to ever serve and was selected to be the chief Justice where he served for 10 years. Johnson was appointed by three different chiefs to the tribes highest court and was confirmed by the National council three times with only one dissenting vote out of the 36 member body.           



Chief Justice Joe Johnson of the Muskogee Creek Nation. Johnson served for 16 years He also was selected to serve on the National Indian court Judges association and was elected Vice president for this organization.



Chief Justice Joe Johnson swears in Creek Chief Bill Fife after the Chiefs landslide election, defeating six other opponets.  The Chiefs wife and father look on with pride at the swearing in ceremony conducted by the tribes highest Judge.

Eufaula Oklahoma Mayor Joe Johnson displays the Life Time Achievement Award


Eufaula Oklahoma Mayor Joe Johnson displays the Life Time Achievement award given to him by the Oklahoma Municipal League's board of directors for serving them as President for two consecutive terms. This was the first time in the leagues 75 year history that anyone had ever served two terms. Johnson  served for approximately 18 years on the board of  directors of the 400 member organization.
